Online Dating Tips For Beginners
Having met the love of my life through online dating, I understand that this can be a very effective way to find the person you are meant to be with.

But just like anything that is done online, you want to make sure that you pursue this avenue safely, and strategically. This is especially true when it comes to free dating sites, literally anyone and everyone is online shopping for a date.

Just because you have good intentions does not necessarily mean that everyone else does too! In this article, I will discuss some tips for exploring the world of online dating, which will help you find your soul mate in no time.

My first bit of advice when considering online dating is to think about how important it is to you to find someone to be with. Are you thinking casually, hoping to make friends and go on a few dates, and whatever happens? Then you may want to consider free dating web sites and phone apps.

The pros are there are lots of choices when it comes to the people who use these sites and apps, and you will most likely meet someone awesome within the first few days of being on the site.

Cons? Unfortunately, one con is exactly what the pro is. There are SO MANY PEOPLE. Before I met my boyfriend, I literally scrolled through a thousand profiles, and it got daunting at times. You will run into weird people, and you will run into people who may be looking to use or harm you.

What about if you are interested in meeting the love of your life, someone to settle down with and perhaps even marry one day?

It’s not a bad idea to consider using a paid website, where you begin a membership and pay to use all the features available on the site. Think about it. This website costs money. It is far less likely that someone who is choosing to mess around, cause harm, or is just looking for a one night stand will pay money, sometimes quite a bit of money, just to get what they want.

So if you consider what your end goal is (Am I looking for friends, and maybe something more? Or do I want to find someone to potentially spend the rest of my life with?), you will be more equipped to choose an online dating tool more effectively for your needs.

The next step is choosing which online dating site or phone app you will go ahead and use. And there’s no reason to limit yourself to just one, either. You will definitely have a greater chance of finding the person you want to be with if you put yourself out on more sites. There are many sites out there. To list a few, there is:

1. www.pof.com (Plenty of Fish)

Plenty of Fish is a free website, and it’s the site where I met my boyfriend. So I definitely attest to its success!

2. www.okcupid.com

Another free web site, this one has you answer questions about yourself and your lifestyle, and shows you who you are most compatible with based on what each of you answered. Not a bad web site to use.

3. www.match.com

4. www.eharmony.com

I have never used Eharmony, but it seems like a great avenue to explore if you are serious about finding a mate. You can begin with a free trial, but it is a paid web site in the long run.

When filling out your profile, remember that you are selling yourself. There’s nothing wrong with sharing what makes you great! Talk about your goals, accomplishments, likes and interests, and where you see yourself going. This will attract any potential suitors, and give you both something to talk about once a conversation begins.

However, remember to be honest. Nobody likes to get to know a persona, only to find out that they have been lied to! This goes for photographs. Any pictures that you put online of yourself should be of you, and not any other person.

Once you have your profile set up, it’s time to browse, and let the magic happen. Chances are good that you will have interest pretty much right away, especially if you have a complete and interesting profile.

Photographs, in my experience, make all the difference when it comes to interest shown. Relax, have fun, and remember that the perfect person for you probably won’t be the first person you have a conversation with. Allow it to take time, and try not to become attached to someone too quickly.

The biggest piece of advice I can offer is to make sure that you stay safe. Don’t offer any personal information about yourself to anyone you talk to online. No addresses! No bank information, nothing that could give someone the opportunity to harm you. If you do make plans to physically meet with someone, choose a neutral location and meet them there. It’s not a good idea to allow them to pick you up from home, or get in their vehicle on the first date. Stay safe, and be cautious. Remember, no matter how long you have talked online, this is still a stranger!

When you’re new to the world of online dating, it can seem like a daunting experience. But when you’re armed with the proper knowledge, and make sure to be safe and to have fun, you’ll meet the right person in no time!
